interesting question - but i guess it was cause during ADG amanda was telling me about maitri night and how fun it and how you could sing, dance, act etc...and i thought that would be a fun thing to do. I also wanted to learn about buddhism cause ive never understood the religion and the reasons why my parents went to the temple and prayed ever since i was little. All i remember doing when i was very little was running around the temple.

I joined Unibodhi in 2002 when I was still in first year of uni because I would like know more about Buddhism. I was welcomed by Unibodhi exco 2002 and participated in Maitri Night since then. Unibodhi is just like a big family to me. Really grateful to get to know so many Buddhist friends there who supported me through my uni life!

I joined Unibodhi because in highschool I heard that there were Student Buddhist Societies in uni. Then, like a few other people have said, I saw their highly attractive stall at O-week. Had to join.
At the welcome picnic at botanical gardens it was really great to meet the members of UNIBODHI.
I've met so many kind and caring people at UNIBODHI and especially at the retreat!
Thanks to all the exco for making it all happen!

Maitri Night 2007 is just around the corner!! Our annual night of song, dance and comic performances, Maitri Night is the highlight of the Unibodhi calendar. So come and get involved!
This will very likely be the last year we'll hold Maitri Night, due to VSU and related funding problems. So what are you waiting for? Make this year's extra special by being a part of it!
Here are some of the departments requiring assistance::
Actors Ever watched TV? Then you've probably seen people act!
At Maitri Night, you can actually have a go at acting yourself, whether you have had from lots to no experience! I know, it's amazing. And it's free. What's more amazing is that you'll be in a team who will create a dramatic piece of theatrical art, which will go on to encapsulate a grand audience, all whilst spreading messages of the Dharma.
If you're a tad interested, just want to help out with a small character, and/or want a first hand experience of *FAME* (not that the latter is recommended), please contact ARIYA at a_chittasy@hotmail.com
Choir Are you: a) A bathroom singer? b) A Karaoke addict? c) Constantly breaking into random songs at any given time of the day? d) Someone who just loves to sing e) All of the above
If you have answered yes to any of the above, then this is your opportunity to sing your hearts out with the Maitri Night choir. Don’t worry..there’s no need to be shy as no experience is required. Just bring along your enthusiasm and join us for a guaranteed fun time sharing the stage with fellow Unibodhi members.
Interested? Contact Khang at klia6773@usyd.edu.au See you at the rehearsals!
Dance Are you the next Usher or Beyonce? Come have a go at dancing. Whatever your level, skill or ability, come shake your booty with some Buddhists! (NB both female and male dancers are required). Email Amelia at amelia.bianco@gmail.com
Backstage Got lots of energy and a quick hand? Interested in working with a group of really fun people? Then backstage NEEDS YOU. Join the backstage team in a variety of jobs including lighting, sound, props etc. Contact Shan at pipipster@hotmail.com
Sound & Light Want to be part of the show but not sure you want to get up on stage and sing/dance/act? Has William Hung failed to inspire you to drop you books for a career onstage? Then join the sound and lighting crew! Email George at mastergz@hotmail.com if you're interested!
Decorations Creative people come to my arms! We need help with designing and making the decorations for Maitri Night! Release the inner artist in you! Contact: Amanda at agchau@gmail.com
Ushering Interested to be part of the Maitri Night crew? But do not know what to do? You are looking at the right place… Join this department…USHERING… You do not need to have good skills and knowledge… All you need is to bring along your enthusiasm and a BIG SMILE… You will meet lots of new people and bring back good memories of a night filled with joy and laughter…. Email Adelyn at adelynyeap@hotmail.com if you are interested or have any enquiries.
Catering Don’t worry, this does not involve cooking! We will need help with distributing dinner on the night. Email Jane at pink.candies@gmail.com for more details!
MC Well, well, well, it's that time of the year again. And, what better an evening could it be than the annual Unibodhi Maitri Night!
Now, let me tell you something. No matter how hard they try to dupe you, the best roles of Maitri Night are not the heavenly-sounding choir singers, or the ass-kicking Kung Fu masters, or even the unbelievably hilarious sketch actors for that matter. It is actually the helmsman and helmswoman of the night, our wonderful, wonderful Masters of Ceremony!
So if you think you have what it takes to be a MC for Maitri Night, send an email to Kevin at kevinyunwang@student.usyd.edu.au to register your interest. Come on down, stars of the future, show us what you're made of!!!

Hello everyone!!! The most edifying pastime activity is traveling; as we grow up we are more enthusiastic to go places where the significant event happened. Spain is the second most visited place in the world, Barcelona is where I want to go since I can have a month off from the office after my hardworking days as assistant executive, as of the moment this travel guide spain helps me organize my plan trip, its better to plan ahead than to plan late. I am very amaze, I am planning to acquire property in spain and I think its an opportunity to have spanish property at my age I should have plan stablility to the places I want to grow old and raise my future family. Can anyone have me an advice?

/ Week 10 Dharma Discussion Session |
on: May 10th, 2007, 07:35am |
| Started by The Exco | Post by The Exco |
In place of our regular Dharma Talk in Week 10, we will be holding a Dharma/Dhamma Discussion Session, facilitated by our very own Dharma Officers, Ariya and Kevin.
So bring along your Buddhist questions for a lively and informative discussion with other members.
Title: Killing Anger, Killing Hatred Facilitators: Ariya Chittasy, Kevin Wang Time: Tuesday 15th May, 2007, 1pm - 2pm Location: The Main Quadrangle: Refectory Room H13
The Buddha advised his deciples to kill anger and hatred, for these qualities lead to harm and unhappiness for oneself and others. How can we possibly stand a chance in eradicating such destructible qualities from our minds? This week we tackle the problem head on! Come have your say!

Mad awesome!! I'm so entering this competition. Multiple times, if I have the time. YAY
Oh yes and for everyone's information - The judging panel will be impartial members of the Unibodhi exco, who will not be permitted to submit entries to the competition. Judging is also done blind.
